Kia ora Aotearoa. Due to the Level 4 COVID-19 New Zealand-wide lockdown, we are re-thinking how we can deliver our Child and Family Services and programmes during this time given the requirement for us all to self-isolate. Our priority is making sure that we provide a means for those most in need to stay in touch with us so that we can support them where they need it.
All Barnardos Early Learning Services (both Centre and Home Based) are closed during the Level 4 COVID-19 New Zealand-wide lockdown. During this time, our Barnardos Early Learning staff will be keeping in touch with all our whānau from a distance, to support them with their tamariki’s learning and play.
If you are an essential services worker and are unable to access childcare to perform your essential service, Barnardos Early Learning can provide in-home care to children aged 0-14 years. For more information please email us at email@example.com
0800 What’s Up is our helpline for tamariki and rangatahi in Aotearoa. It’s available nationwide, and children and teenagers can either call for free or chat online with one of our counsellors.
Tamariki and rangatahi can ask to speak with a counsellor who they can positively relate to (a specific gender or ethnicity), and can ask to have ongoing counselling with the same counsellor if it helps them build trust.
Empowering children and teenagers is central to our counselling practice.
We help to develop a child or teenager’s personal competence and resilience, so they can take a positive perspective on the world around them. Tamariki and rangatahi are encouraged to get in contact to talk about anything at all.
No problem is too big or too small.
