Barnardos offers centre-based early childhood education and care for
children up to five years old in its 20 Early Learning Centres around
the country.
Each centre provides a warm and caring environment, trained and experienced
staff and low staff to child ratios, at affordable rates. The hours offered
range from casual to full-time.
Staff offer high quality early childhood education and care programmes based
on Te Whariki, the national Early Childhood Curriculum. The programmes focus on
language, art, science, music, early maths and Maori culture and are tailored
to meet the needs of each child.
Nutritious morning and afternoon teas are provided in most centres, as well as
a cooked midday meal in some centres. All centres promote healthy eating.
Buildings and outdoor areas meet health and safety standards and are designed
to encourage exploration and play.
The centres are licensed and chartered with the Ministry of Education. They are
regularly audited by the Education Review Office, with reports available on
www.ero.govt.nz/reports/.
Fees at each centre are variable. Sibling discounts are available.
