Every Child Counts
He Mana tā ia Tamaiti Every Child Counts is a coalition of community groups and individuals working to improve the status and wellbeing of New Zealand children.
The coalition is driven by a core group of Barnardos New Zealand, Royal New Zealand Plunket Society, UNICEF NZ, Save the Children NZ, and Te Kahui Mana Ririki Trust. We work in a variety of ways to educate people - from corporate citizens to politicians and the general public - about the political and community actions that will better support children and their families.
He Mana tā ia Tamaiti/ Every Child Counts works to place children's interests at the centre of Government decision-making and public consideration. We want to achieve five specific objectives:
- Placing children at the centre of policy and planning.
- Ensuring every child gets a good start in the early years.
- Ending child poverty.
- Reducing maltreatment, child abuse and neglect.
- Increasing the status of children and of the child-rearing roles of families, whānau, hapū and iwi.
