We were using a Laundromat every two - three days which was draining the budget and then using up valuable time that was better spent with the children at home.

I work as a social worker co-ordinating the Children's Supervised Contact Service in Dunedin.

Recently I applied for some funds to assist a young British woman who had come to New Zealand with her partner. She had her baby shortly after that and sadly was the victim of some serious domestic violence at the hands of her baby's father.

She has been unable to access monies from WINZ and relying on family for support was finding managing extremely difficult.

I would like to pass on how appreciative she was when advised of the assistance for groceries from the Shell Foundation Fund. This sort of response is pivotal in helping her exist on more than a substandard level while issues of custody are sorted out through the very slow Family Court process. Thank you for the prompt and generous response.
