Toddlers & the pre-school years
Toddlers are one to two year olds who have learnt to walk. They have been described as 'long on will and short on skill' - there is lots of things they want to do but they often are incapable of doing them.
It can be therefore a frustrating time for the child. They are bursting with energy, want to explore the big wide world, and are starting to develop a sense of independence.
The pre-school years see your child determined to show they are no longer a baby, soaking up words and expressions and engaging in lots of talking, and learning how to manage his or her emotions.
Pre-schoolers are acquiring confidence and self-esteem. They are learning how to play and socialise with other children, acquiring a sense of humour. They can also feel they have got it wrong, can't cope, or that the world can be a scary place.
