Shell continues to provide Barnardos with enormous support for children in need through the ‘Shell Fund,’ whose sole purpose is to provide for the urgent and unusual needs of children in distress.

Just recently, the Shell Fund was able to provide Day Passes to seven young children from two families, so they had something to do in their school holidays. These passes included a train fare, movie pass, ticket for mini-putt golf and a lunch voucher. But these passes provided more than just a day of fun... They also provided the children with anticipation, excitement and something to tell their friends about when they went back to school. They provided escapism from the misfortunes of their everyday lives, and the opportunity for these parents to forget the stress they were facing, to spend quality time with their children, just for one day.

Shell understands that the scale of Barnardos’ activity is heavily dependent on sponsorship and donations, and Shell is committed to providing ongoing support to us to help improve many young lives in various ways.

Telecom
Telecom New Zealand is working in close partnership with Barnardos through the provision of leading technology and communication services at favourable prices. They have also been very generous in their support of a wide range of activities. This includes significant financial and operational assistance to ‘What’s Up,’ a telephone counselling service for children and young children seeking advice.

Barnardos is also supported throughout the country by many other businesses and individuals who help us to provide services to at risk and disadvantaged children.
