Family Violence Programme: Footsteps to Feeling Safe

Barnardos works with children aged from five to 14 years who have been exposed to family violence, through our 'Footsteps to Feeling Safe' programme.

This education programme uses a mixture of play, creative activities and discussion to help children deal with the impact of family violence such as the secrecy surrounding family violence, the loss of a parent/ caregiver, managing anger, expressing feelings appropriately and developing safety plans.

Footsteps to Feeling Safe is a programme approved by Child, Youth and Family (CYF) and the Ministry of Justice.
