Becoming a volunteer
Have you ever thought about volunteering for Barnardos?
Becoming a volunteer can be an enjoyable and rewarding way of giving something back to the community. Volunteering also provides an opportunity to learn new skills and meet new people.
Our volunteers assist us in so many ways, for example:
- Library (indexing, processing library requests)
- Archiving
- Helping out with mail outs
- Driving children and caregivers to and from playgroup
- Barnardos Parent Helpline volunteers
Please call us on 0800 4 BARNARDOS (0800 4 227627367) or contact your nearest Barnardos office.
Read about some of our outstanding volunteers:
"I have known Don Langridge for the last 5 years. Don picks up and drives our Barnardos Educators and children to and from our playgroups every alternate Friday. He always ensures their safety, taking extra care when they are getting in and out of the van. The children know him well and get excited when they see him. I know he is dedicated to our Barnardos KidStart Educators and children."
Shamshad Sen.
"I have been the Co-ordinator of the Karori Community Bus for 16 years and for most of that time I have been taking Barnardos Care-givers and their charges to and from St. Ninians Church Hall for play sessions on most Friday mornings. I have always enjoyed my contact with the Care-givers and the children they look after and the Barnardos staff members I have dealt with over the years"
Don Langridge.
