We encourage you to visit your local Barnardos childcare centre to see if it's right for you and your child. We recommend you come several times at different times of the day to see how the centre works, and to meet all our teachers and children.

When you visit, we can talk about the hours you’d like your child to be at the centre. Most centres offer four-hour sessions, six-hour days or full days (more than six hours).

Your first day

We’ll help you and your child to achieve a smooth transition from home to the centre, become familiar with the new environment, and start to build relationships with our staff, other children and their families. We'll give you lots of information about what to bring on your first day.

Securing your place

Your child may be able to start straight away, but sometimes there's a waiting list so it pays to contact us early. If there’s no space available, we can talk about whether our Barnardos KidStart home-based childcare is an option for you.
