Ruth Payne

Ruth Payne joined the Board in 2008. Ruth has undertaken senior HR, corporate planning and general management roles in New Zealand Post and the Ministry of Education, as well as working for multinational computing and consulting organisations. Through her wide-ranging experience she has gained a strong strategic perspective and extensive understanding of corporate management disciplines and processes of organisational change, which she applies in her consulting work.

Ruth became involved with Barnardos a few years ago when foster children from the Wellington area joined in a special celebration at the Zoo in memory of her daughter Sarah. In 2006 the Sarah Lilli Fund was set up by Ruth and her family in collaboration with Barnardos.

Prior to joining the Board Ruth undertook project work for Barnardos, working on the Integrated Early Childhood Services Project and contributing to the development of the Strategic Plan for 2009 - 2012.

Ruth has developed interests across the range of Barnardos services and activities and is keen to apply her knowledge and experience in a governance role. In particular she sees her contribution in strategic planning and organisational development areas, helping the organisation to focus its efforts and enhance its performance for the greatest impact on children’s well being. Ruth is Chair of the HR & Remuneration committee.

Testimonials

Family Support

"We have always been able to depend on Barnardos quick response to our referrals and we have total confidence in their skills to encourage, support and bring about positive changes for clients and their families/whanau. We hear only positive feedback from the families/whanau who have been assigned a support worker, who has worked alongside, encouraging and assisting families to achieve good outcomes for the families/whanau."
